Content Approval / Revision Rounds

Definition

The contractual process by which the brand reviews creator content before publication, including the number of revision requests the brand may make and the timeline for approvals. Revision rounds define the feedback cycle between creator and brand.

For Creators

Unlimited revision rights are a scope creep nightmare. Always cap revision rounds (typically 2-3) and define what constitutes a 'revision' versus a 'new deliverable.' Set a deemed-approved provision: if the brand doesn't respond within X days, content is approved.

For Brands

Content approval rights protect brand safety by ensuring creator content meets legal, brand, and compliance standards before publication. Define the approval timeline to prevent campaigns from stalling.

⚠ Red Flag Warning

Contracts with unlimited revision rights and no deemed-approval provision allow brands to withhold payment indefinitely by refusing to formally approve content.

Sample Contract Language

Creator shall submit each Deliverable for Brand's review no less than five (5) business days prior to the scheduled publication date. Brand may request up to two (2) rounds of revisions. Brand's failure to provide written feedback within three (3) business days of submission shall constitute deemed approval.
